At age 10, Jennylyn Chung joined The Hour of Power Children’s Choir, quickly becoming a featured soloist in the choir. As an ambitious teen, she went on to perform in prestigious venues such as, the Irvine Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, The White House, The Hour of Power television show and Dodger Stadium.
Further delving into pop and jazz, Miss Chung went on to tour the United States, Canada and Europe during her early 20s. She continued to dance with her high school varsity cheerleading squad, and then went on to perform with the LIU Post Song & Dance Team. A finalist in several vocal competitions and talent shows, Jennylyn lived for music. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Long Island University Post, having studied both business and music.
Masters of Music + Opera
Upon completion of her masters degree in vocal performance from California Baptist University in 2012, Jennylyn would continue to experience growing success. She performed with several prominent opera companies in California such as The San Diego Opera, The Pacific Opera Project, The Pacific Lyric Association, The International Opera Institute and The Riverside Lyric Opera. Jennylyn sang with female pop-jazz group, The Pinups, from 2013-2015, and was featured in the cable television show, Recipe Hunters – singing beautiful Italian arias.
Jennylyn also has vast experience in classical church music, serving as the lead vocal cantor at Christ Church Presbyterian (PCA), Irvine, for 5 years. In addition, she sang as a lead soloist and choral section leader at Community Church Congregational, Newport Beach, from 2013-2015. Jennylyn will forever hold sacred music close to her heart.
Entrepreneurship: Jennylyn Voice Studio
In 2010 Jennylyn opened Jennylyn Voice Studio, where she trained talented young women in singing, musicianship and personal development. Her studio was successful, producing an abundance of skilled, professional artists. Her students were cast as leads in major shows, won beauty pageants and excelled at voice competitions; many of them went to college on huge scholarships. Jennylyn loved serving the creative, feminine spirit.
Body Positive Activist & Plus Size Modeling
Having made peace with food and her body, and putting to rest a 20-year eating disorder, she felt ready to make a difference for more women. During 2016, Jennylyn created her music and body positive YouTube channel, which would reach 2 million views during its first year. In addition, she was signed to Mavrick Modeling Agency LA – as a plus size model.
Today: New York City
Jennylyn opened her Etsy Shop in 2017, where she features pretty, inspirational things. She has authored several how-to and self-help books – all for sale on Amazon. Jennylyn is currently recording her debut crossover album, to be released in March of 2018. Miss Chung currently resides in Manhattan, and is pursuing her unrealistic dreams full-time.
