Live Your Purpose: Try Flowing, Not Fighting
Are you trying to live your purpose and calling? Maybe try flowing, not fighting. Living in your purpose – has a kind of effortlessness and finesse to it. Today I am sharing my thoughts on flowing with life, letting go of fears, and trusting in God. I have come to believe that God really is greater than my circumstances.
#1 Find your calling. Admiration and accolades come when you’re working within the context of your gifts. Take a step back and get real with yourself about what it is you’re really good at. What do you truly find joy in? What feels like play and lightheartedness to you? Your purpose will feel like bliss mixed with fear of the unknown.
#2 Work intentionally. Putting intention into your work produces far better results than just hustling your ass off. Working extremely hard often left me fatigued, emotionally drained and with merely above-average results. Oftentimes, pure failure. I am not a fan of hard work; I am a fan of being present, focused and intentional.
#3 Surrender to God. Often we swim so hard upstream, forgetting that life was never meant to be so hard. In my world, life wasn’t meant to drain me, it was meant to invigorate and delight me! There is no need to swim up the river alone. Climb into the life raft that God provides, and let Him guide and lead you up the river. He knows where you need to go and will keep you safe along the way.
#4 Let go. You have to let go of the things that don’t bring you joy. That might include an outfit, a job, or certain relationships in your life. Shed the things that don’t feel “flowy” in your life. Let go of whatever feels heavy, painful and restrictive. Instead, embrace who you truly are, what you truly want and what you truly need – to be happy.
My Reality of Try Flowing, Not Fighting
I have always been a striving overachiever, and in so many ways, I feel it’s held me back. Instead of striving so hard and making myself totally nuts, producing oftentimes just mediocre results – I wish I had relaxed and flowed more. Looking back, my greatest successes came naturally, when I wasn’t pushing. I was just being me. Just being.
Coming into alignment with your self, aligning your actions with your essence – is really just a fancy way of saying: I’ve embraced God’s beautiful and perfect plan for my life. I surrender. “Love casts out all fear.” -1 John 4:18
